There’s an important distinction here: Starter isn’t entirely manual. You can use payment plans with automated payment reminders. What you can’t do on Starter is build Flows that move a client through a series of steps, such as sending the next form after booking or following up after an inquiry. And while Starter can connect to your calendar, Dubsado’s appointment scheduling tool requires Premier.
When I Recommend Starter
Starter makes sense if you’re getting your business organized and you’re comfortable handling the next steps yourself. Maybe you’re refining your services and client process. You want inquiries in one place, contracts that can be signed online, forms you don’t have to recreate, and a way to invoice clients and track payments. That’s a solid reason to use Dubsado even before you’re ready for Flows.
One active lead capture form can be enough if everyone starts with the same inquiry form. It doesn’t mean you can only offer one service or work with one type of client.
I wouldn’t tell you to pay for Premier simply because it has more features. If you’re not planning to use Flows, scheduling, multiple active inquiry forms, or its integrations right now, look seriously at Starter. You can upgrade when you need those tools.
When I Recommend Premier
If you want Dubsado to help carry your process, I recommend Premier. Flows and scheduling are the two big reasons.
Think about a wedding planner who receives an inquiry while she’s at an event. Her process might include an initial reply, an invitation to book a consultation, a proposal and contract, an onboarding questionnaire, and reminders for information she needs later. On Starter, she can keep those pieces in Dubsado, but she has to manage many of those handoffs herself. With Premier, we can build a Flow around the repeatable steps and make room for her to personally respond where it matters.
That example could just as easily be a photographer, florist, stationer, or bridal business. The details change; the deciding point doesn’t. If you want Flows, you need Premier. If you want me to build those Flows as part of your Dubsado setup, Premier is the plan you’ll need.
Buying Premier doesn’t write your emails or decide when clients should receive them. We still need to map the process, make choices about timing, and test what happens when a real person inquires or books. That’s the work that turns a collection of features into a client experience you can trust.
So which Dubsado pricing plan should you buy?
- Choose Starter if you want an organized home for inquiries, contracts, forms, invoices, and payments, and you’re happy to handle follow-up and scheduling yourself.
- Choose Premier if you want Flows, Dubsado scheduling, multiple active lead capture forms, public proposals, or integrations such as Zapier.
You don’t need to reach a certain number of bookings before Premier makes sense. And you don’t need Premier just because another wedding pro uses it. Choose the plan that supports the process you want to run now.
